Mac to MacBinary is a translator document for Apple File Exchange.
It translates files from the original Macintosh format into the
MacBinary format. It is useful for those who normally use
MS-DOS or Apple II systems to senad and receive Macintosh software
using the commercial services and local bulletin boards. Without
such a translator, Apple File Exchange would simply move the file
to a Macintosh disk and you would need to run another program to
perform this translation.
Using Mac To MacBinary is easy. Put Mac To MacBinary into the
same folder where your copy of Apple File Exchange resides. Launch
Apple File Exchange as you would normally. Select the documents you
wish to translate. Select the "Mac To MacBinary" item in the menu
appropriate for the disk that holds the files to be translated. For
example, if the files will reside on an MS-DOS disk, select the "Mac To
MacBinary" item in the "Mac To MS-DOS" menu. Deselect any other
translators in the same menu so that Apple File Exchange will only
use "Mac To MacBinary" to attempt the translation. When you have
selected all of the files you want to translate, and the proper
"MacBinary to Mac" menu item has been selected, press the "Translate"
button in Apple File Exchange's window. The files will then be
transferred from your Macintosh disk and translated properly.
When the "Mac To MacBinary" item is selected in a menu, and
you choose "Show Eligible Files", Mac To MacBinary does no
checking.
Should Mac To MacBinary encounter a problem during the translation,
it will post a message in the user log. If a hardware problem prevents
translation, Apple File Exchange will notify you with a dialog box and
Mac To MacBinary will post an explanitory message in the User Log. If
you want to report a possible bug in Mac To MacBinary, please use the
"Save User Log As..." item in the File menu of Apple File Exchange to
create a text file that holds the User Log.
Mac To MacBinary is a shareware product. It is not very complex,
which is why I only ask for a $5.00 license fee. Mac To MacBinary will
periodically post a dialog box to remind you of this fee. If you pay
the license fee, you will be given instructions on how to disable this
dialog and freely use the translator without interruption. I depend on
shareware fees for a good part of my income and ask that if you find
Mac To MacBinary to be useful that you support my efforts. In return,
you'll be given the latest version for a period of 1 year from the
date you license it and my fullest cooperation in helping you to use it.
Mac To MacBinary is the copyrighted product of PEEK[65]. You may
copy it for your own use. You may also pass on original copies to friends
and local bulletin boards as long as this document accompanies all copies
and as long as no fees are charged. PEEK[65] makes no warranty concerning
the use of this software. By using this software you agree to accept all
risks and responsibilities, and to hold PEEK[65] harmless for any
damages incurred.
Thank-you for your interest and support.
